Sea Cadets from TS Achilles were privileged to be invited to raise the flags on the roof of Auckland Museum during the Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Cenotaph. After the ceremony, the Cadets got to meet Willie Apiata VC and have their photo taken with him. What an honour! Senior Sea Cadets from the Auckland area took part in a Powerboat Training weekend recently. This course teaches Senior Cadets how to drive Powerboats safely so they can support younger Cadets while out Sailing.
Sea Cadets from Training Ship Achilles helped to man a stand all about Sea Cadets at the Devonport Navy Base Open Day.
During their breaks, they went off and explored other areas of the Open Day, which included visits on board New Zealand Navy Ships and First Aid demonstrations by Navy Medics. It was an awesome day - check out the photos below... Things are very busy at TS Achilles at the moment. Lots of Sailing, Pulling and Land Based Activities are happening in preparation for Northern Area Regatta in May. Competition will be fierce as we are competing against:
Although we will all be competing against each other, it will be great to catch up with friends from other Units who we might not have seen for a while too! Here are some cool videos from NZ Cadet Forces that show some of the activities that Sea, Air and Army Cadets from New Zealand, Australia and Canada participated in while at Cadet 150 in Waiouru in January. Sea Cadets from TS Achilles took part in a display of Volunteer Organisations and Emergency Services in February. They rigged a Crown Sailing Boat inside The Cloud on Queens Wharf as part of their display.
This amazing week long event celebrated 150 years of Cadet Forces. Over 1000 Cadets and Cadet Force Officers and Staff from Sea Cadet, Air Cadet and Army Cadet Corps attended a week long camp in Waiouru. Cadets travelled from all over New Zealand and Cadets from Australia and Canada also attended.

Everyone is invited to come and find out more about TS Achilles and take part in Activities and Demonstrations. You will also be able to find out more about joining and becoming a Sea Cadet at TS Achilles.
