TS Achilles has recently been approached by the William C Daldy Preservation Society and asked to provide Cadets on a regular basis to help volunteer on board the historic tug boat William C Daldy. They work as deck crew, which involves learning how to cast her off and the harder job of tying her up again when returning to port.
While the Daldy is out on the water, Cadets help out the stokers in the boiler room and some of the luckier ones even got a chance to steer the William C Daldy. Events where Cadets have crewed on the William C Daldy include the Auckland Heritage Festival and the Tall Ships Festival. The Cadets all had a great time and you can be guaranteed this will not be the last time that Cadets from TS Achilles help out the crew of the William C Daldy.
