Some lucky Sea Cadets from TS Achilles and TS Bellona went on a day sailing voyage on an NZ Navy Chico Sailing Yacht. It was a fantastic day and Cadets even got the opportunity to take the helm!

Sea Cadets from TS Achilles participated in the NZ Navy Damage Control School Exercise. This is the same program that Navy recruits do during their training. The Cadets really enjoyed the challenge.
Sea Cadets from TS Achilles were given the opportunity to visit the Dry Dock at the Devonport Navy Base. It was amazing to see these big Ships up close!
Sea Cadets from Training Ship Achilles helped to man a stand all about Sea Cadets at the Devonport Navy Base Open Day.
During their breaks, they went off and explored other areas of the Open Day, which included visits on board New Zealand Navy Ships and First Aid demonstrations by Navy Medics. It was an awesome day - check out the photos below... Sea Cadets from TS Achilles were lucky to be given the opportunity to go aboard the NZ Navy Ship HMNZS Canterbury. We were given a tour around the Ship and got to see interesting parts of the Ship including the Bridge and the Landing Craft that they use to take vehicles from the Ship to dry land. This was a great opportunity and we would like to say a special thank you to Ordinary Combat Systems Specialist Howie for showing us around and giving us a great tour.
The Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Jack Steer, visited TS ACHILLES Sea Cadet unit in Auckland on 11 April and presented Master Cadet Michael Hannah with the 2013 Chief of Navy Scholarship. Some photos from the presentation evening are below. Some lucky cadets from TS Achilles were invited to go aboard the NZ Navy ship Te Kaha for a look around at this awesome Navy vessel.
