This amazing week long event is celebrating 150 years of Cadet Forces. Over 1000 Cadets and Cadet Force Officers and Staff from Sea Cadet, Air Cadet and Army Cadet Corps are attending a week long camp in Waiouru. Cadets have travelled from all over New Zealand and there are also Cadets attending from Australia, Singapore and Canada.
The Governor-General, Lieutenant General the Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, will review the parade of 1200 Cadets and Officers at Waiouru Military Camp, the largest parade of Cadets in more than 50 years.
The parade will end an exercise from January 24-30 that will see the Cadets participate in a range of military activities from flying, tramping, sailing, shooting and medical evacuation scenarios in a challenging and disciplined environment.
Being part of Sea Cadets helps young people to develop many skills including leadership and make great friends along the way.
