More overseas adventures in the last term of the year, with our Warrant Officer Max Lichtenstein travelling to France to the Battle of the Somme memorial! To end the year, we held our formal Prizegiving Dinner and went White Water Rafting!

This term one of our Cadets had an overseas adventure - she traveled to the United States of America on an International Sea Cadet Exchange! As well as this, Cadets within the unit were promoted and there were some trophies presented!

A new year and new activities here at TS Achilles! We have started the year with multiple activities including a combined Cadet Coxswain Course, Anniversary Day Regatta, Basic Cadet Training Camp and an Inter Unit Sailing Activity in Tauranga! Here are some highlights from these activities...
2015 has been a busy action packed year for TS Achilles, and we're looking forward to more exciting activities coming in 2016. Here are a few photos from the events that have ended our year - the Navy League Regatta, a First Aid exercise with the NZ Army Territorial Force ( we aren't really injured, it's just great makeup and special effects!), the Senior Cadets Powerboat Training weekend and our end of year Prize Giving.
Cadets at TS Achilles take part in many varied activities, and recently there have been many different opportunities for our Cadets. These include ANZAC Day services, a unit camp at Martin's Bay, a weekend spent at the Devonport Navy Base and a day of Volunteer Tree Planting on Motuihe Island. Here are some photos!
The beginning of 2015 has been busy, with Regattas, a trip to the Navy base with time spent on HMNZS Hawea, a Basic Cadet training camp and some promotions in our ranks.
The end of the year has been filled with a camp at Marsden Point, the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the River Plate Parade, our annual Prizegiving and an end of year fun day with games of Laser Strike!
November has been a busy month at TS Achilles! We've taken part in lots of activities including Pulling (Rowing) Practise, a Unit Photograph, our yearly Swim Test and a Sailing Camp with a group of Air Cadets.

Our Unit Commander Lieutenant Jamieson, was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. This is the highest rank a Sea Cadet Officer can obtain during their service to Cadet Forces. LT Miriam Waaka attended the ceremony from Cadet Forces headquarters and presented LTCDR Jamieson with his new rank slides. Congratulations LTCDR Jamieson! |
